So, in case people are not aware, there is a travesty of publishing about to happen… THEY ARE GOING TO CHANGE THE COVERS FOR THE BONE SEASON SERIES BY SAMANTHA SHANNON. YES! These beautiful covers: Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE this series to bits. The most exciting moment of blogging EVER was when I got to the release the first official teaser for the third book, The Song Rising. So naturally, I love Bloomsbury, because they gave me that absolutely incredible opportunity to be part of one of my favourite series. And I’ll always love them for that. I review books for them frequently (and hope I continue to do so), and I have a fairly good relationship with the wonderful people working there. Oh my goodness! So many exciting things today! Where do I start? This is one of my absolute favourite series. I’ve raved about it both on here and a lot on tumblr. I love it. It is a mix between fantasy and dystopian and it has one of the most interesting magic systems I’ve ever encountered in a book before. The Bone Season follows the story of Paige in a futuristic (but kind of old-timey) London where being a Clairvoyant (or Voyant) is punishable by death. Paige is a Dreamwalker for an underground Voyant crime syndicate, and just by being alive she is breaking the law. And it’s really awesome. So Samantha Shannon, the fabulous author of the amazing The Bone Season series, bless her cotton socks, has written a little teaser for book three for me to share with you all. Book Review: The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

“Some revolutions change the world in a day. Others take decades or centuries or more, and others still never come to fruition. Mine began with a moment and a choice.” What’s it about? The Mime Order is the Sequel to the dystopian fantasy, The Bone Season. The story takes place in an alternate London, called Scion, where clairvoyants (humans with magical abilities) exist, but are hunted down by the government. We follow Paige, a young voyant who works for the underground voyant crime syndicate. In order to avoid spoilers for either The Bone Season, or The Mime Order, this review will be rather short. What did I think? Right off the bat I thought this book exceeded its predecessor, which was also excellent. A lot more of Scion and the Syndicate’s place in the city is revealed, along with more details of the remarkably constructed machinations of the voyants and the aether. We really get to see how beautifully unique and finely constructed the world Samantha Shannon has created is with this novel. This world is …
